21CF hosts ‘The Post’ world premiere in D.C., with cast, crew, members of the press, members of Congress, others in attendance

On Thursday, Dec. 14, 21CF hosted the world premiere of “The Post” at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. Director Steven Spielberg and stars Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks led the cavalcade of cast and crew in attendance, including Sarah Paulson, Bob Odenkirk, Bradley Whitford, Matthew Rhys, Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, David Cross, Michael Stuhlbarg, screenwriters Josh Singer and Liz Hannah, and producers Amy Pascal and Kristie Macosko Krieger.

The film, distributed by 20th Century Fox Film, chronicles the partnership between The Washington Post's Katharine Graham (Streep), the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, and editor Ben Bradlee (Hanks) as they race to catch up with The New York Times to expose a massive cover-up of government secrets that spanned three decades and four Presidents from studies known as the Pentagon Papers.

Members of the press in attendance included Bob Woodward, Carl Bernstein, Chris Wallace, Fred Hiatt, Jim Acosta, Jim VandeHei, John Harris, Karen Tumulty, Blake Hounshell, Major Garrett, Marty Baron, Mike Allen, Paul Begala, Sam Feist, Wolf Blitzer, as well as Lally Weymouth, Sally Quinn and Quinn Bradlee, members of the Graham family and members of Neil Sheehan’s family.

Washington luminaries in attendance included Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System Janet Yellen, Sen. Patrick Leahy, Rep. Larry Bucshon, Rep. Debbie Dingell, Rep. Billy Long, Rep. Barry Loudermilk and Rep. Greg Walden. Other notable attendees included Warren Buffett, Diane von Furstenberg, Barry Diller, Steve and Jean Case, Jeff Bezos, Kate Capshaw, Rita Wilson, Amblin’s Jeff Small, and Participant’s David Linde and Jonathan King.

“The Post” opens in select theaters on Friday, Dec. 22, and opens in theaters nationally on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018.
