In its ongoing endeavor to develop directors with diverse voices, backgrounds, life experiences and perspectives, Fox Audience Strategy has begun it second annual Fox Global Directors Initiative (FDI). The directors who have been named Fox Director Fellows will participate in comedy or drama apprenticeship programs and be pitched for directorial opportunities across Fox entertainment programs.
Fox Audience Strategy has announced that writer Ester Lou Weithers is this year’s FOX Writers Intensive (FWI) Fellow. Ester, who was selected from a group of 12 finalists announced earlier this year, has received a script development deal with FOX Broadcasting Company and 20th Century Fox Television.
On March 9, the Fox | HBCU Media Alliance wrapped the “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) screening and Talk Back Tour. The multi-city tour was headlined by members of the cast from the FX Networks hit series, including Cuba Gooding, Jr., Sterling K. Brown, Courtney B. Vance and director John Singleton, all of whom participated in dynamic conversations that touched on the issues relevant to the series’ themes of race, celebrity, discrimination, police corruption and sexism.
Twentieth Century Fox Television’s “Fresh off the Boat” recently went on a screening road show ahead of its midseason premiere, which returned this Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST with the show’s largest audience of the season since the premiere.
The 12 finalists for the fifth annual Fox Writers Intensive (FWI) were announced on February 3. The FWI aims to nurture experienced writers with diverse voices, backgrounds and life experiences. There were more than 500 nominations and submissions for FWI, the most in the platform’s history.
