At the 6th Academy Awards ceremony held on March 16, 1934, at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, the 1933 film “Cavalcade” won the award for Outstanding Production (the modern-day equivalent to this award is Best Picture).

20th Century Fox has two nominees this year for writing in the Best Original Screenplay category: Guillermo del Toro and Vanessa Taylor for “The Shape of Water,” and Martin McDonagh for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.” Both Guillermo and Martin also directed their nominated written screenplays. 

At the 52nd Academy Awards ceremony held on April 14, 1980, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, Sally Field won for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her captivating performance in “Norma Rae” playing the title character.
