Fox Studios film “7th Heaven” won the first ever award for Best Writing (Adaptation) at the inaugural Academy Award ceremony, which honored films from 1927 and 1928. The event was a private dinner held on May 16, 1929, at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood.

This year, three actors from Fox Searchlight productions are nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role: Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell are nominated for their roles in “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” and Richard Jenkins is nominated for his performance in “The Shape of Water.”

Among 21CF’s many Oscar nominations this year, “The Shape of Water” is up for awards in the categories of Sound Editing and Sound Mixing.

During the 1910s, Theda Bara became one of the biggest stars in the film industry. This year, the Fox Archives is celebrating the 100th anniversary of three of her titles: “The Darling of Paris,” “Cleopatra” and “Madame du Barry.”
